“Why Study World Religions?”

It was certainly strange to meet Baha’i missionaries tucked away in a small town in the SW region of a large country in Central Asia. But sure enough, they were there putting feet to their social faith by teaching English and Baha’i doctrine. We also met some of their students and they were hungry for spiritual truth. As we became friends the Baha’i missionaries discovered our love for Christ, but they struggled to convince us that all religions were the same. They tried to teach us that there are different "sons" of God prophesying in different ages.
Honestly, in situations such as this I can only exalt God and relish in His glory at having been equipped in what I believe is one of the most practical college classes--Christian Faith and World Religions.
Having been equipped, God was able to use me to overturn the lies propagated by the Baha’i Faith. Later, our two Baha’i missionary friends accepted Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives--now and forever. They began to share the genuine Christ with their Baha’i friends. Some of those friends also became Christians and severed ties with the Baha’i family. In all, six and perhaps more by now, have come out of the Baha’i Faith and believe God! Praise Him! It was surprising to meet those Baha’is in

I just wanted to share with you how much your class has helped me understand more about other religions.I went into a gas station here in
My heart broke for this man. I know--because of his heritage, unless someone takes the time to witness to him--he will perish from this earth. I prayed again that God would allow me to enter this gas station soon and somehow apply something that I've learned in your classand try to lead this man to a saving knowledge of Jesus. I cannot stop thinking about that man and his wife and feel that God will lead me soon back into their store, if for nothing else, than to strengthen my commitment to pray for them.I've truly enjoyed having my narrow mind opened to the world around me, even in my own small town.
Thanks so much, Tricia Steiger (Sep 2003)
