Minimal Gospel Presentation

(A work in progress, by Cky J. Carrigan, 8/05)

Background:

1. The God of the Bible exists (eternal, personal, just, loving, self-disclosing, infinite, omniscient, omnipotent, omni-benevolent, etc.).

2. God created the world, and is justly sovereign over the world.

3. God created man with the unique capacity to relate to God, and is justly sovereign over man.

4. God requires moral perfection from man in order to maintain that relationship, because God is morally perfect.

5. Disobedience to God results in alienation from God, because God is just.

6. God requires an atonement to remedy any alienation between God and man.

Bad News:

7. All men are disobedient to God, therefore, all men are temporarily or eternally alienated from God.

8. Man is not able to atone for himself, or provide a remedy for this alienation though he attempts to do so through many inadequate religions and philosophies.

Good News:

9. Even though man is not able to provide a remedy for his alienation from God, God Himself provides a remedy.

10. God loves man very much and gave Jesus Christ to be the remedy for this alienation.

11. Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, died to atone for the disobedience of man and satisfied God’s requirement for an atonement.

12. Any man who repents of his disobedience towards God and exercises faith alone in Christ alone (whereas “faith” and “Christ” are defined by the inerrant Bible alone) as the only remedy for his alienation from God can enjoy fellowship with God now and forever.
